UNO Television

    The newscast is a production of UNO Television at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. UNO Television is a unit of the university's College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media. In their words they provide "television production, program distribution, and educational services to a diverse group of users on local, regional and national levels." The programming and production center also serves as an Omaha affiliate to Nebraska Educational Telecommunications (NET) Television. In addition to documentaries and long-form journalism, you can see their work every week on The Knowledge Network (COX 17; QWEST 74). Shows like "Consider This," a weekly program addressing Omaha issues, and "ICU Learning English," air regularly on Omaha's premiere local station. (Photo courtesy of Josh Gray). 

Spring 2011 Producer

    The 2011 Spring newscast, as well as this website and the associated social media presence, is produced by Heartland journalist Sam Petto. Sam Petto is a The Omaha News alumnus. His packages aired on the newscast throughout 2010, and last November he co-anchored a two and a half hour election special for the newscast. Along with producing your favorite local newscast this semester, Sam is working as a news intern with WOWT channel 6 news. His resume includes acting as PBS talent, field reporting for KVNO radio, working with NET sports crew, and studio work with UNO Television.
